These are my memories from the 1960's and 70's:

I received the cane over my trousers several times. In Prep school and 1st yr boarding could be alone or 2,3 others. From about 15 would be private.

At Prep would be for talking in class, (too often) or getting too many Minus points -10 you got beaten.

At Boarding school could be anything; Talking after lights out got you an instant slippering over pjs or (rarely) bare! Being caught out of bounds, being rude to teachers, even cleaners etc. and smoking (V serious)

At Prep straight to the Heads study, knock, go in told to bend over end of a long table - then swish swish! Really scary you could be 9, 10 and it was the most frightening thing. WEnt back to my old school recently and it made me scared even now

Boarding, by Prefects 1ST YR in their common room in front of whoever happened to be there other Prefects, even another boy who may have been just delivering/taking a message 'boy runners' I saw a few and heard a lot! You bent over an armchair or sometimes touching toes (rare) Norm was 4 -6 strokes

If older then you were sent to the library after prep or on a Sat morning and waited for what seemed hours for your prefect to arrive, usually 10 min wait of course the worse part. Then you would be bent either spread-eagled over the end of a long refractory table or made to kneel over 2 chairs back to back - 'arse up' we called it! These were the really brutal beatings 6 - 8 strokes delivered hard over trousers always Once got 10 but not actually the worse - he was pretty reasonable and used a light whippy cane that stung but did not mark so much You never counted strokes bt always said thank you after and if offered shook hands.

The 1st time I realised I could enjoy it also the worse caning I had.!! Getting 8 for arguing with the head of house at 16 he was a sort of hero and only a year older, we played in the same team etc. he was actually a decent guy. But.... he arrived in the library and as I bent over he told me to take my trousers down I knew it was not official but just did, I think I just did not presume to refuse and look a wimp!.It did raely happen and was known about. He lifted my shirt and certainly beat me very hard and slow over thin pants and my God it was a whole new level of pain/feeling Yet somehow, maybe as I knew him? it was sort of... erotic, I think the feeling of semi nudity etc. (FYI we were/are both ST8)But i did have wet eyes after! Years later I reminded him - and he remembered too! He told me I had become a 'coky so and so' and the prefects just decided to make an example! But we stayed friends

I became a Prefect and must say its better to give than receive. I do still take the odd beating from time time but in a vanilla so have to be careful re marks! However what's interesting all these yrs latter is that although I am a ST8 Dom with women - if I take it I only do from male/schoolmaster types. So CP does work!

It would be 4,6 or 8 More was very rare Once got 10 ! 12 was given couple times but not to me.

At Boarding school you did get used to it though some were bad. But its as much the fear and thinking about your impending beating etc that was so bad And the marks after Sometimes it was almost unbearable. Marks would often last for some time ........ cant remember prep but later I would say welts up to 5,6 days. redness few days - I think After my 'trousers down' some marks lasted over a week It depended if a heavy or lighter cane was used.

This happened in 1970 when I was 17 years old. There were two of us who were taking test papers.

We we were taken to the teacher's back room after school. The teacher took down the paddle and said take off pants so bare butt is bare we did. I was told to bend over the horse I got 22 the hard hits. The marks lasted for two weeks.

This happened in 1968 when I was 14 years old. There were three of us who were caught smoking.

We waited outside the headmaster's study another boy was being caned when he came out we went in we where given a lecture then each of us had to stand behind the back of a chair take of our blazers drop our trousers and got six hard strokes across our pants. It hurt very bad and the marks lasted for a week.

This happened in 1975 when I was 13 years old. Myself and 2 friends had been caught playing truant and were taken back to school and reported to the deputy head . He informed us a note would be  sent home to our parents and we would all get the cane . We went to his office and he lined us up in his room and one by one called us forward to bend over his desk , first removing our blazers . He selected a cane form his cupboard and when it was my turn I bent over his desk in readiness .He swished it three times then tapped my bottom 3 times then Thwack it was the worst pain I had ever felt followed by 5 more .When He finished I could barely feel my bottom it was on fire . My 2 friends got the same and at the end we were all very sore and there were tears .We all had trouble sitting in class the rest of the day plus there was the note home to our parents , but that is another story .Needless to say we were more careful in the future .
