This page lists canings from March 7th 1960 to February 20th 1961. The number of recorded canings is not a lot but the level of punishment is quite severe. 

Fourteen year old Peter Clark received four strokes for smoking while at the same time Richard Jacob, also aged fourteen, received two strokes for the same offence. Perhaps Peter had been previously punished for smoking.

On September 29th three boys, Chris, David and Gary, were each given six strokes for truanting. Bet that hurt !
